Neha Khamparia – Postpartum Core Recovery

For working mothers 35–45

For many mothers it is not fat. It is a separation that never closed.

The diets, the gym, the yoga, the 20-minute home workouts — and it still looks pregnant. This video explains why that happens, and what actually helps.

The part nobody checked

It was never a weight problem

In pregnancy the abdominal wall separates to make room. For many women it never knits back.

That gap has a name. Diastasis recti. In most cases nobody ever checks for it.

A wall that cannot hold tension lets everything press forward. That is the shape most often mistaken for fat.

It is not a fat layer. And losing weight does not close a gap.

Why the workouts made it look worse

Crunches, planks and HIIT drive pressure at the weakest point. That is the doming. Train harder and the shape often gets worse, not better.

“You weren’t lacking discipline. You were treating the wrong problem.”

Not sure if this is what’s going on with you?

What women with core separation describe

  • Their youngest is five, and people still ask when the baby is due.
  • During a workout, the middle of the stomach pushes forward into a ridge.
  • Lower back ache that arrives around 4 PM. Every day.
  • Lifting a child off the floor becomes something to brace for.
  • A sneeze in a meeting that turns into an hour of quiet worry.
  • Trousers that fit at the hips and the legs. Never at the waist.
  • Flat-ish in the morning, six months along by evening.
  • Standing differently in photographs, without deciding to.

Three or more of these together usually point to core separation, not fat.

Why nothing else worked

None of it was wasted effort. It was aimed at the wrong problem.

Weight-loss diets

You got lighter. The shape stayed. The bulge was never fat.

Gym and HIIT

Loading and impact push outward on a wall that is already open.

Generic core workouts

Standard ab work skips the deep layer that actually holds the wall.

Waiting it out

Time alone does not close a separation. Back pain and leaking often settle in instead.

Who you’d be talking to

I have been exactly where you are

After my second child I did what you have probably done. Ate carefully. Trained hard. Waited. Nothing changed in the middle.

It took me a long time to find out why, and longer to work out what actually helps. That work became the Postpartum Deep Core Restoration Method™. I’ve spent more than ten years refining it, and I’ve now worked with over 2,000 women.

What I do is not weight loss. I look at where your separation actually is, how you breathe and manage pressure, and what your deep core is and isn’t doing. We rebuild from there.

Most of the women I work with are professionals in their late thirties and forties. Precise, busy, and wanting to understand their own body. That suits me.

What actually changes

How much, and how soon, varies from woman to woman.

Lift your child without bracing first.
Get through a workday without reaching for the heating pad.
Laugh or sneeze without doing a quiet check afterwards.
Wear something fitted without holding your stomach in.
Stand in the photo without scanning yourself first.
Understand what your own body is doing, and why.

Who this is — and isn’t — for

I would rather you know now than three weeks in.

This is for you if…

  • You want to understand what is actually happening in your body, not just be told what to do.
  • You want one-on-one guidance, assessed for you and adjusted as you go.
  • You’re ready to own your recovery — including the work between sessions.

This isn’t for you if…

  • ×You want an exercise library to work through on your own.
  • ×You want a generic group workout programme.
  • ×You want to be handed a plan without understanding why it’s that plan.

Still deciding?

Straight answers

Is this the same as a fat-loss program?
No. Fat loss and core restoration are different problems with different solutions. If your stomach is shaped by a separation in the abdominal wall, losing weight will make you smaller everywhere and leave that shape largely as it is. That is usually the experience women describe when they come to me. The work here is about the wall itself, not the weight.
Can diastasis recti be healed without surgery?
Many women see meaningful improvement in both the separation and the symptoms with appropriate, progressive rehabilitation — and never need surgery. But not every case is the same. Very wide separations, or a separation alongside a hernia, may need a surgical opinion, and I will say so if I think that applies to you. I can’t tell you which situation you’re in before I’ve assessed you, and I won’t pretend otherwise.
I had my baby 8 years ago — is it too late?
No. Connective tissue and muscle respond to appropriate loading well beyond the postpartum year, and a good share of the women I work with are years or a decade past their last pregnancy. Progress may be more gradual than it would have been earlier. It is not closed off to you.
How much time per day does this take?
For most women, somewhere around 15 to 20 minutes on most days, plus some changes to how you move through an ordinary day — which cost no extra time at all. Consistency matters considerably more than duration here. Long sessions twice a week tend to work less well than short ones most days.
Do I need a gym?
No. Floor space and a wall are enough to start. Later stages may use a resistance band or a light weight. Nothing that requires a membership or a room you don’t have.
What happens on the consultation call?
You tell me what you’re experiencing. We look at whether diastasis recti or deep-core dysfunction could reasonably explain it. Then I tell you what I think the most appropriate next step is — and if that step isn’t working with me, I’ll say that. It’s a conversation, not a pitch. It’s ₹149, booked through the payment link, and there’s nothing to prepare.
